Icebathing and Infrared therapy FAQ's
What is the ideal temperature for the icebath?
Our Icebathing tanks can be set on your preferred temperature, for beginners we recommend starting at aprox. 5 degrees celcius and for the more advanced you can go as low as 0.5 degrees celcius. The lower the temperature, the higher increase in neuro epinephrine, dopamine and increase in brown blood cells.
When is it best to use the infrared panel?
You can use the infrared panel before going into the icebath. You can use this to lower the barrier to face the cold. It is also great for building resilience and improve your time in the water. After a minute in the cold, you can warm up with the infrared and go back for 2 minutes.
How long should I stay in it?
he health benefits start from 30 seconds and are delivered at around 2 minutes, beyond that it's your own mindset practise and down to experience. When you first start out, keep the temperature warmer, around 12-16°c, and keep to 1 minute or feel for a shiver response. It's important to cold adapt slowly (in a few days or sessions) and keep the experience positive to avoid unnecessary cold shock or a negative experience. Always exit whilst you feel good.
